This book hits right at it; plus alot more. I was so blown away that a book could simply give a better understanding of the issue, but also break down the doubts that not any single one person could be alone. even if it isnt pronography, finding a new way to get a grasp on the healing process and to know everything is going to be ok. The truth is, God still loves us and wont stop. This book is different from the rest. nothing but high recomendations. (of course you cant go wrong with having a Fresh Prince quote either!)

Stephen Kuhn's 10 Lies is a rare book on pornography (and addiction in general) that deals with the underlying heart motivation behind porn, rather than offering rigid instructions for behavioral change. It's a shame that the performance-driven books on the topic (like the dreadful Every Man's Battle series, for example) get so much coverage.10 Lies is really about a lot more than just porn - it's about the fundamental heart issues that have implications for the entirety of your spiritual life, not just porn and addiction. Kuhn's writing is clear and to the point, and offers a lot of content to digest, in a concise (and inexpensive!) package. If you or somebody you know is struggling with porn use or addiction, then this is one book on the subject that gets it right when so many others don't.

I definitely have a problem with pornography. I've been on a journey and had many slip ups as well as failures. Stephen puts things in perspective by showing you the side you don't usually associate with pornography. He gets you to realize how much God's love is missed in our lives. In a digital age of constant media consumption we can allow things to hold the place of God's love. But the void is never truly filled - Stephen helps you to figure out how to be whole again.

The practice of replacing the lies we tell ourselves and the lies we are bombarded with from the world around us and the enemy with God's promises and truth is fundamental to living the abundant, victorious life in Christ. This book has garnered a lot of undeserved one-star reviews by people who seem to think that it should be different from what they got. Before I actually review the book itself I'd like to set the record straight vis-a-vis what so many of the reviewers think this book should be, and why it is not what they think it should be. But it is excellent for what it sets out to be.This book is not intended for people who do not have dementia. If you are expecting a book with any level of plot complexity, deep characters, or the deep questions that have concerned humanity for generations, you are going to be disappointed. Probably because you do not have dementia. (BTW, take a moment and thank what ever higher deity you believe in, or if you don't have a higher deity, thank your lucky stars.) This is a very short (26 pages of story) tale of a woman who is led on a sweet walk by a feather floating on the wind. It has no conflict, no stressors, no suspense. In short, nothing that is going to agitate a person with dementia.It might seem simpler than a child's book and that's because for an adult without dementia, it is. See, a person in the middle stages of dementia isn't going to be reading Clive Cussler, Debbie Macomber, or James Patterson. Those novels are simply too complex, there are too many characters to keep track of, too much story and plot to keep track of, and a stressful level of action.The back of the book has about 4 blank pages, not 13.And then there are those who complain about the price. I paid $11.99 and I consider that a decent price. The paper, printing, and binding on these books is about 4 bucks a pop. Amazon's slice is about $4.00, leaving the writer with about $4.00 in royalties. Which may sound like a princely sum to the average reviewer, but it's not. From this $4.00 she has to take the cost of hiring a book designer, formatter, and editor. Not to mention the time and effort that went into writing this book and the others in this series. For Emma Rose Sparrow, this is an obvious labor of love. Contrary to what most people think, most people who write do not make so much bank that they can quit their day jobs and retire to the Bahamas. In the overall scheme of things, this is a very niche market, and the majority of potential buyers are not likely to think it's worth it to spend 11.99 on a book for mom when she's losing it anyway.Ms. Sparrow, if I had to hazard a guess, probably had a loved one with dementia. A loved one who had loved to read and slowly lost the ability to read conventional, contemporary literature. So I think these books were written for that loved one. It is generous of her to share them with our loved ones. Most people have very little idea how difficult it is to write, let alone write at this level. To write a book that is engrossing for an audience that is slowly losing the ability to function in the real world, yet wants to keep trying. These books are not an insult to people with dementia, they are a gift. Writing them is an act of love, and one for which I am deeply grateful.My mother, in the middle stages of dementia, and an avid reader, treasures these books. And every time she picks one up, it's brand new to her. I paid 11.99 for a book my mom will find as new tomorrow as she does today. Now, THAT'S value for money. Buy these books and your loved one will get more out of them than the 8.99 airport paperback you read once and then donate to your library.Judge this book by whether it is a quality exemplar of it's genre, not what you think it ought to be. After all you wouldn't buy a contemporary romance expecting Colson Whitehead's level of writing. Emma Rose Sparrow isn't going to buy a Rolls Royce on her royalties, she's not out to insult you or your loved one, she's not padding the book. She's simply trying to make the descent into dementia easier for all involved, the best way she knows how.For the record, my mom loves these books. In the end, that's all that matters to me.

This book is a good start for this Author, and as she goes along this series of books they get better and better! This story is about the wind as it whisks a feather along. The reader follows along in first person discovering what the wind is showing them that day. A bird I had never heard of, flowers, a beach, and other fun things are experienced and learned about on this windy day adventure.This book is good for those who need a story that keeps readers from feeling belittled due to their current mental challenges. This first book in the series reads a little differently than the other two, which helped with added variety for our loved one.I'm grateful to have these books available and have been sharing their existence with my friend and other family members! I hope that you will check them out too, as they are a blessing!

I bought this for my mom, who used to be an avid reader. She is in the late stages of dementia, and now there is no such thing as a logical conversation. I have to admit, I was skeptical when I looked through the book, because her thoughts are so scattered. We gave her the book today, and she read the whole thing to us! I almost started to cry. She absolutely loved it! She read with inflections in her voice, phrased sentences and questions correctly, and I was amazed! Thank you! I will be ordering more!

While the storyline geared toward people with dementia is a wonderful idea, this book is so thin that our dementia patients are passing it by in search of 'real book's that are thick enough for them to actually feel they are reading a book. This is more like a pamphlet, and even our patients in decline think it's childish.

A short and easy read, but how lovely the imagery .. and gentle the teaching. This is a book I will read again and again. Maybe I’ll see you along the path!

Bought this for my mentally failing father. I didn't realize it was quite so 'feminine' when I ordered it. I told him it was written specifically for someone who used to read a lot but didn't any longer and that he may or may not like it. He actually read it and said he liked it. Said it was about 'butterflies and things'. And he didn't argue when I said I would order one of the others for him. Makes me happy to be able to give him something to do when he feels there's nothing left to do but stay in bed and sleep.

My mother in law who has dementia in the middle stages absolutely loves this book. She said she has read it many times already and it makes her feel so good that she can start and finish reading a book again.

In my early 40's I was diagnosed with severe advanced osteoarthritis in my left hip. This was in the summer of 2006 (7 years ago) by two doctors. One of them looked at me straight in the eye and leaned toward me, saying, "You are going to get a hip replacement. You will be getting one." I would go on to live in constant pain for the next seven years. As I sat in a wheelchair in the emergency room of a local hospital, I started to try and get up but I couldn't. A nurse passed by and said to me, "You better take it easy. Your arthritis is not going away." I tried different health products and got some relief, but after a couple of weeks the pain would all come back again. It was like something living in me was figuring out what I did and would adapt accordingly. Massage therapy helped me have enough strength to walk for about 15 minutes at a time but walking was still painful. I'd have 4 - 5 high pain days a week and 2 days medium pain. Every so often I'd have a few hours of low pain but never a whole day.As late as five weeks ago I constantly had hot throbbing pain in my hip and walked with a very noticeable limp. Sitting for more than 15 minutes at a time caused my leg to stiffen so I could not stand up and walk right away. I got this book because Dr. Fife was the only doctor who said his program was a cure. All other arthritis books circle around that claim and pretty much offer ways to minimize pain a little at best.On the first day I tried the oil pulling that he teaches, the hot throbbing and inflammation went away. And it hasn't come back! All my high pain and medium pain days went away too. They went down to nothing but low pain days within a day, and as the weeks have passed most of my days are no pain days! I have not had even one high or medium pain day again since I began oil pulling, which was 30 days ago. I am excited to see my range of motion coming back. It's interesting how I'm feeling things popping and moving around as I walk sometimes. As I walk I've been feeling like velcro is getting stripped away inside my leg and releasing more range of motion.I can't believe the results I've been getting. I can move normally now and go from point A directly to point B instead of pivoting the long way so the good leg takes the first step even though it is farthest away.It was always a mystery how I'd gotten osteoarthritis. Dr. Fife explains it as an infection in the blood. Clean out the infection and you heal. It's as simple as that. I was a karate guy back when I got this condition. I'm suspecting I got it from being barefoot so often. Sometimes I would have cuts on my feet and I taught karate in all sorts of places. Some of them weren't very sanitary.I don't know what would have happened to me had I not discovered this book. The inflammation felt so bad before it seemed like something was on the verge of bursting inside me. That wasn't good. I care for two elderly parents and my recovery has helped my entire family. I also used to get chronic headaches and those have disappeared since I began the oil pulling. I feel younger, more alert and healthier all around. Several people who I've shared my experience with have run out to the store within the hour to buy themselves some coconut oil. I definitely recommend Dr. Fife's book to anyone who wishes to recover completely from any sort of bone disease or problem.God bless you, Dr. Fife. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. If you have any type of arthritis you should get this book. I have arthritis in my family and found that what this man points out is true and he proves it with scientific evidence that has been known for a long time by many famous and well respected doctors. This book will excite you and probably make you mad at the same time that this info has been out there for a long time and is overlooked by many in the health profession. I noticed a difference in my pain after a few days trying his recommendations and to be honest i have tried many supplements for osteoarthritis and nothing worked as good as this. I have suffered with fibromyalgia for 37 years. I have seen countless doctors for the condition that was so painful it consumed my life. None of them knew what the problem was, they just prescribed numerous medications and gave me exercises to do. I was finally diagnosed by Mayo Clinics in Rochester, MN. Basically they said I would have to learn to live with the pain. The pain progressed, the only relief I found was walking every day, range of motion and chiropractic, which was painful, and only temporary relief. The last 6 months I have gotten worse. Pain in my legs especially when I lay down to sleep, I had pain like an electric current shooting down my legs. I took sleeping pills and pain pills just to get the sleep that I did get. Then 2 weeks ago I went to a friends garage sale. She shares a similar problem so asked how I was getting along? I shared that I was miserable and didn't know where to turn. She told me about this new book she had read named The New Arthritis Cure. She dropped it off to my home the next day for me to read and said it had helped her with her pain. I read it that night,and started using coconut oil immediately. I have been doing the oil pulling as well as taking 4 TBSP. per day. It has been 2 weeks since I first began. I have changed my diet and walk daily, do range of motion exercises to strengthen the muscles that used to be so sore I could barely stand it. The pain is almost completely gone!!!! I just can't believe it! I keep waiting for the pain to come back! I no longer have the shooting pain down my legs and the pain in the rest of my body that used to be a 10 plus, is now at a 2, and it just keeps getting better. My thought process is coming back too! I was so preoccupied with pain it was difficult to think and focus. I will never stop using coconut oil, It has given me back my life! I am sure I will be completely pain free very soon! THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!

This book has really helped me in two ways. The first was following the advice in this book by using coconut oil. This really led to the reduction of my arthritis symptoms. The second thing, was a result of the outside the box thinking from Dr. Fife, which led me to evaluate other areas of my life style. This further resulted in me changing my diet to vegan and utilizing an exercise program more suited to me. I'm really thankful for the results that all started from reading this book. I'm not going to say that it will work for everyone but it is worth a try.

I have read many books about arthritis and I expected to learn more new info. It is good for those who have never read anything about nutrition, the harmful effects of sugar in all its disguises etc. Paavo Airola's book from the 60s is way better, harder to do what the European clinics do but way more effective than the suggestions from this book.

This book is fantastic. It rhymes, the illustrations are fantastic, and it's just fun to read to my DAUGHTER. My only complaint is that all the construction equipment are male. Why can't at least ONE be a she? I read it as though they are all she's now. We wonder why we can't get girls to play with legos- this is why. The plush that comes with the book isn't the nicest or softest but it gets the job done. My daughter loves it. I've had to wash it a couple times and it has held up well.UPDATE: It looks like there is at least one "she" in the sequel. Yay!

You know, sometimes I could just kick myself for not finding out about some things sooner, especially such a terrific little book as this! When this book was published in 2011, I babysat full time for our oldest grandson while my daughter-in-law was in the work force, he was 3 years old and was HEAVY into Thomas the train. We'd begun a collection of diecast trains for him, along with the Island of Sodor's construction team (called "The Pack"), and each and EVERY day at naptime he would have to say "goodnight" to each and every one of them individually - this darling book does exactly that, saying an individual goodnight to the rough and tough crane, cement mixer, dump truck, bulldozer and excavator, who are all calming down and getting ready to call it a night (with all of the typical bedtime rituals included in the book - taking a bath, getting tucked in, curling/snuggling up, dimming the lights and shutting the door) - it would have been absolutely PERFECT!We've added a couple of more grandsons since then, and though Mommy is now a full-time mom and I no longer get to partake in all of the traditional naptime rituals with our 4 or 2 year old grandsons (big brother's a 3rd grader already!), I went ahead and bought this for the youngest's 2nd birthday. Whether it's naptime or bedtime, the calming way this book is written coupled with the cute illustrations of the vehicles yawning, shutting their eyes, etc., is bound to be a sure-fire winner for any parent or grandparent tasked with helping a youngster to "Turn off your engines, stop your tracks, relax your wheels, your stacks, and backs. No more huffing and puffing, Team: It's time to rest your heads and dream. Construction site, all tucked in tight, the day is done, turn off the light. Great work today! Now... shh... goodnight." Even "tough" kids need their rest too!Especially if read in a quiet, soothing tone, I can't think of a more perfect bedtime book. You know how seeing someone yawn usually makes you yawn yourself? I think that's the exact effect the illustrations will have... I'm just envious of my son and daughter-in-law for getting to be the ones to read it to him! (And if I raised my son right, he'll be reading this to my first grandDAUGHTER who's arriving in October in just a couple of years as well!)

This book is super cute. The story line is catchy, and the vibrant colors and illustrations really make storytime enjoyable. My son absolutely loves this book, we read it every night b4 bed. 😊

My 2 year old son loves cars, trucks and construction vehicles. I purchased this because we were getting a little sick of reading goodnight moon every night. This quickly eclipsed Goodnight Moon, we read this every night at bed and sometimes during the day. The coolest part is wowing our friends when we drive by new construction and he yells out the correct names for the trucks.

My grandsons LOVE this book. The authors should have book signings at libraries hosting a "big trucks" day. Our local library had a special afternoon this summer and invited construction and emergency teams to bring their rigs to the parking lot. The kids had a ball! The only thing missing was a table with the construction site books and their author / illustrator!

This is such a will written kids book. My son is 8 months old and I read this to him before bed. He loves the pictures and really pays attention which is rare for him. He only does this to two other books. It is a tad bit long for an infant though which is nothing bad against the book, he's just over reading by the time we get to the excavator so we usually just skip that one and go right to the end. Overall good buy.

A very sweet bedtime book for your youngster. My son loves construction equipment so this is a nightly staple in our house. It’s a rhyming book, it’s well illustrated, and very sweet. It is a little lengthy, but it’s a good one. I will be buying the rest of the books in this series.

I've been reading this book for over a year and my now 3-year-old son and 6-year-old daughter still enjoy it regularly. The second time I read it (my daughter was 4) I made half of the vehicles female by changing the pronouns while I read. My daughter LOVED the book even more! She has never forgotten which ones are females and she still reminds me when I make a mistake. I think this is the only reason she engages with this story. Fun book to read and wonderful illustrations!

I included this booklet in a present at a birthday party. It was a big hit with everyone, especially the honoree. Even the younger people were interested and amazed at the facts in the pages. "A house was only $7,000??" "Gas was 24 cents??" Well yes, but I had to keep reminding them that their paycheck was 2-3K too. "WHAT??" Haha, it was a lot of fun.

My dad LOVES this! Really fun for him to reminisce of the “good old days.” Several pages inside with news/sports/headlines/advertisements, etc.

The vintage ads that are included are incredibly small. Need a magnifying glass to see them. Too bad as concept is good

The book was interesting because I didn't ever hear much about Jan growing up, just that he was my mom's friend's son...and he was in movies. In contrast to the book, which painted a picture of Doris and Lloyd as horrible people, they were actually wonderful and friendly and kind people. Jan has two other siblings who were very successful, so you can't blame his addictions and anti-social behavior all on his upbringing. I'm not unhappy I read the book, but I think there were extreme liberties taken in diagnosing his issues as simply a bad childhood.

I guess it was brutally honest an account. I hated the way it began & I thought some of the comments were cruel. But it was well written,though I wonder why the author didn't try to talk to Jan himself. Maybe he couldn't get close,or maybe Jan's health isn't good enough,I don't know. But it was an interesting read which I got thru in a couple of hours.

The only real value to this book is the good general overview of his movies. But scant details of his relationship with cast and crew. I would have liked to get more information on the poverty row films he was in post-Air wolf. Honestly I can do without another book that wallows in a celebrity's addictions but when the affliction is so intrinsic to a person's life how can it be ignored?

It's a book of lies, little to no representation of facts. Grove states "he admires Vincent" when the book clearly shows that Grove hates his subject matter. Out of all the people that Grove states he talked to, in back checking he talked to no one and made up stories based on old stories from magazines. I have advised everyone that I come in contact with not to buy this book if they are a fan of Jan Michael Vincent. Grove is just a parasite sucking the blood out of any famous person that he can to make money.

A tough read, largely due to the subject's self destructive behavior. It would have been helpful to offer early quotes from Vincent's career to show his initial hopes, aspirations, or fears in regard to his career and it's eventual trajectory. As portrayed he's an unsympathetic figure and little more than a product to be sold in the early going. Most of his films are glossed over, especially the b films he made for the direct to video market. That's a missed opportunity to explore how former stars wound up and survived in those cheapies. Should have waited on writing this until after the subject has passed. With Vincent still alive it seems like a low blow to a guy who has already experienced a lot of pain and suffering (much of it his own doing).

It would have been useful to have employed a graphic designer to at least do some enhancement of many of the low resolution pictures in this book. Most were copped from various fb groups or internet sites. They work for an eBook but not at all for a print book.The content is reasonably well written but with a heavy bias against the main subject and a huge amount of home grown arm chair psychoanalyzing has been employed. Some of which is dubious and some of the author's "evidence" for these conclusions could be used to come to a completely different one. There was some newer biographical details not as commonly known included in this book which is one of its few assets. It's mostly a recitation of rumors, second had stories and author assumptions. It comes off in the end as a hit job. I really was hoping for something more balanced and open minded.

If possible, I would have given this no stars! Never have I read a biography where the author had such disdain (almost hatred) for his subject. Poorly researched and full of blank screens where evidently there were supposed to be photos.

It is obvious the author does not like the subject he is writing about by comments that are thrown out throughout the book. The books' focus appears to be more on what was happening behind the scenes of JMV's movies and TV projects. Author went out of his way to NOT include anything about JMV's personal relationships or specifics about his personal problems.I finished this book frustrated as it left me with a lot more questions than it did answers. Very disappointing.

Had this as litterature in my higher level of museumstudies. It is an anthology that's basically been desperatly created by throwing together a mixed lot of articles written by artists, academics and mostly other non-museum workers. Only one article was actually written by museum curators, and that was also the only informative and interesting article in the book, it was actually about "museum materiality" which the other articles are not!After reading this book me and my class (of people studying museumstudies) concluded that the picture on the front was far more interesting than the books content, and further more, the book has absolutley nothing to do with natural history museums (as the front suggests) so it's at the same time extremely misleading! Almost all articles are written about art galleries & art museum... I think this made most of my classmates quite disappointed, I know I was.A book marked as museum litterature for museumstudents? Containing articles about art galleries & art museums written by artists and academics who has never worked in a museum? What an joke.Conclusion:If you are a student studying museumstudies and this book has popped up on your list of litterature, don't buy it, it's a waste of money and you probably won't be able to use it later in life. Borrow it at the library, and consider copying chapter 10 since it's actually pretty good.If you are someone who just happens to enjoy museums, don't buy this book, it's misleading and you will get a false view of how the museum actually works since the book is not written by museum people. . . Instead I recommend that you buy the museums selfwritten yearbooks, those books are written by the museum staff (the people who actually works at the museum) and I find them extremely useful, entertaining anf filled with new knowledge and reflection on materiality. Depending on the museum of course.This review was written by someone who has studied museumstudies for 4 years and intends to work as a curator in a near future.I wasted my money on this book, don't make the same mistake. The cover is pretty good looking though, might remove it from the book, frame it, and put it on my wall. That way it might do me some good.

Many of the essays examined the affect of the sensory stimulation - sight, touch, small, sound, and emotional feeling - on the human experience of objects, and objects in museums in particular. Additionally, considering the ways that sensory engagement creates meaning, symbolism, and memory that function as dialectic social relationships between things and people. Very enjoyable and interesting.
