Started superhero gaming with school friends in 1983 with Villains and Vigilantes, and carried our characters over into other game systems when 2nd edition V&V "went dark" years ago, and when Mutants and Masterminds came out a decade and a half ago, we loved the house setting Freedom City AT LEAST as much as the system itself. We're in New Jersey here, and if you look at the 2nd edition map of Freedom City in the book, it's eerily like a certain coastal city of our state, so it was a natural. The rich setting was fleshed out from the start with notable personalities, landmarks, the game world's flagship super team, the Freedom League and its members statted out and storied as well as the villainous personalities and organizations vexing their fair city ...just couldn't improve on it meaningfully at all. The ONLY downside was the stupid, inexplicable wait between the debut of Mutants and Masterminds 3rd edition the better part of a decade ago, and the release of Freedom City for it. In my opinion, Freedom City should be part & parcel of the basic set. That said, the one thing I didn't like, the delay in its release, still doesn't justify one star fewer than five. Seeing the city I know very nearly as well as my own hometown, its personalities, those fallen ever since 2nd edition as well as having joined the Freedom League, it was all like catching up with a long-time friend with whom you'd lost contact.
I've played the Mutants & Masterminds since its first inception... and I'm so pleased that you brought back it's greatest setting! Thank you so much for another top quality product Green Ronin , you guys are the pinnacle of awesomeness!!
