About the Author
Sylvia Plath was born in 1932 in Massachusetts. Her books include the poetry collections The Colossus, Crossing the Water, Winter Trees, Ariel, and Collected Poems, which won the Pulitzer Prize. A complete and uncut facsimile edition of Ariel was published in 2004 with her original selection and arrangement of poems. She was married to the poet Ted Hughes, with whom she had a daughter, Frieda, and a son, Nicholas. She died in London in 1963.

I have studied her poems throughout college. It is nice to finally have my own copy of her collection instead of constantly checking it out from the library. If you are just interested in her work this is a great book to see her progression, emotions, life, references, etc. all together.
I love Sylvia's work! A tortured genius. Why she's not on BiPolar lists is mind-blowing. She seemed very BiPolar. Right down tothe part where she stuck her head in the oven.
Knew the name, but never read any of her work. Just finished The Bell Jar and had to read her poetry. All I can say is wow.
I had the physical copy of this but had to leave it in my country to save luggage space when I came to the US. There’s no other poet I resonate with more than Sylvia Plath. If you want to understand the pains of someone who has a lot going on inside their heads, read Sylvia Plath. She has the ability to paint emotions so accurately in words. I also recommend her novel, The Bell Jar. Truly heartbreaking how she left this world at a very young age. Please, try to understand people with mental illness — please read Sylvia Plath.
I bought The Collected Poems Sylvia Plath because I wanted to explore Plath's work. I don't remember reading Plath's work before, but several of the poems had a familiar feel to them so I must have read her at some point. As I read, I often felt an eerie connection to the words on the page. At times they felt like they mirrored thoughts and feelings I'd had about experiences in my own life. At other times I struggled to even make sense of the poems, but even those poems had a haunting essence to them. Plath used life itself to paint emotions and feelings and observations on the words she chose to put on the page. This collection includes a section after the main book of poems she wrote when she was younger. Those poems had a naivete that offered an unexpected rawness in their more traditional form and choice of words. I highly recommend The Collected Poems Sylvia Plath for anyone who is interested in Plath's work or in poetry in general. The Collected Poems Sylvia Plath is a great read filled with thought-provoking, emotionally challenging, and overall engaging poetry.
It really does not get much better than Sylvia Plath. If you are a fan, you will truly appreciate this collection of her work.
Many of these poems really hit home! I love her works. Another star leaving earth too soon fly to the heavens to shine down upon us.
I feel in love with Plath when I was required to read The Bell Jar. Her work is truly incredible. Her life story is heartbreaking.
